Homelessness is a looming and unyielding experience of uncertainty. There is often a daunting and false perception that comes with homelessness. Honestly, when you think about it what comes to mind when you think of someone experiencing homelessness? Would you think struggling adolescent or college student? As we have come to better understand and empathize with this challenge, we have identified a lack of awareness within our community, specifically with academic institutions. The lack of support networks available to youth, coupled with the bias towards homelessness make this challenge difficult to identify and resolve.
